Hello, I'm Professor Shirley DeSaw, a hematologist specializing

in Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia, or WM.

I've spent many years caring for people with

WM and working to improve how we understand

and treat this rare disease.

And I'm Bob Perry, a WM patient, advocate,

and apparently Shirley's unofficial question master.

I've lived with WM for over a decade,

and I've spoken to hundreds of patients around

the world about their experiences.

Together, we're bringing you Waldenstrom Unplugged, Words Matter,

a podcast for people living with WM, their

families, and anyone who wants to understand this

complicated condition a little better.

In the episodes ahead, we'll unpack the language

and science of WM, diagnosis, symptoms, treatment, new

drugs, research, and the search for a cure.

But we'll also talk about the things that

don't always make it into a medical textbook.

What's it actually like to receive a diagnosis,

living with uncertainty, finding the right information, looking

after your well-being, and making sure that
